Susie Mills is the principal of Susie Mills Law. She assists businesses, not for-profits and private clients, and she also has expertise in the Public Works Act, subdivisions, easements and land covenants.
Susie also assists charities and other not-for-profit organisations with a wide range of legal matters. Approachable and friendly, Susie always focuses on providing practical solutions for her clients.
A bit more about Susie
Born in Wellington, Susie has been based in Waikanae for over 20 years. She studied law at Victoria University and completed her counselling training in the 1990s.
She has a keen interest in glass art and is also passionate about conservation. Susie is a volunteer with the Waikanae Volunteer Fire Brigade and a trustee of both the Kapiti AED Trust and the Assam Medical Trust.
Fleur Hobson — Senior Solicitor
Fleur Hobson is a senior solicitor at Susie Mills Law. She specialises in trusts,wills and estates, and enduring powers of attorney. Fleur also has experience in residential property, including applications under the Protection of Personal and Property Rights Act 1988. She regularly advises on relationship property agreements. When working with clients, Fleur keeps them well informed and up to date with what is happening with their matters.

Fleur was born in Auckland but was raised in Canada. She studied law at Victoria University and travelled extensively after graduating. She has a keen interest in skiing, soccer and other sports. She enjoys travelling and experiencing different cultures. Fleur also enjoys spending time with her husband and four energetic sons.
John Mills — General Manager
John Mills is the general manager at Susie Mills Law. He is also the firm's resident photographer and general "I can fix anything" person.
A bit more about John
John’s background is in forensic electronic crime investigation work with the New Zealand Police and, prior to that, he had his own Apple Computer reseller business in Wellington. He is also a station officer with the Waikanae Volunteer Fire Brigade and regularly assists the Kapiti AED Trust with their free cardiopulmonary resuscitation training courses.
His passion for photography means he can often be found with his camera at the beach or on Hemi Matenga.

Alexander (Sandy) Millyard — Consultant Lawyer
Sandy Millyard is a consultant lawyer for Susie Mills Law. He has practised law for over 45 years, including operating his own firm in Christchurch in the early 1980s.
Sandy’s area of expertise is banking and finance. In addition to general commercial law matters, such as buying and selling businesses, franchising and commercial leases, his practice now includes conveyancing, estate planning (wills, estates and powers of attorney), asset protection, trusts and buying and selling shares.

From 1999 to 2003 Sandy was a special counsel in the banking and finance team of one of the top five Australian law firms, based in Sydney.
Following his time in Australia, he was a partner in a Christchurch law firm until he moved to Kapiti in 2015. He lives at Raumati Beach. Sandy is a member of the New Zealand Law Society.
In addition to spending as much time as possible with his three children and five grandchildren, he is a keen sportsman. He particularly enjoys sailing, motorcycling and, of course, rugby.
Emma Foster-Smith — Legal Executive
Emma Foster-Smith is a qualified legal executive in the property team at Susie Mills Law.
A member of the New Zealand Institute of Legal Executives, she specialises in conveyancing and subdivision work, bringing to the team over five years of legal experience. Previously, Emma worked for 12 years in the banking industry.

Emma enjoys spending time with her husband and two children, as well as socialising with friends. When not with her family, she enjoys walking and playing sport. She is also a member of the Waikanae Volunteer Fire Brigade and a trustee of the Kapiti AED Trust.
Lauren-Beth (LB) Stitt — Legal Executive
Lauren-Beth Stitt is a legal executive with the estates and trusts team at Susie Mills Law, based in our Otaki office. She specialises in wills, estates and powers of attorney.
LB previously worked at Baldwins Intellectual Property. She has over nine years’ experience, is a qualified legal executive and is an affiliate member of the New Zealand Institute of Legal Executives.

LB enjoys spending time with her two children and husband. She also enjoys baking, knitting, walking and socialising with friends.
Janine Reynolds — Law Clerk
Janine Reynolds is a law clerk and the trust account administrator at Susie Mills Law. She also plays a key role in our property team.
Janine has extensive experience of working in law firms, having been employed by her father’s law firm for more than 10 years. Her expertise lies in a range of areas, particularly residential property, wills and estates.

Janine lives in Kapiti with her family. When not working, she can usually be found in her garden or enjoying the outdoors.
Kathryn Burton — Legal Secretary
Kathryn Burton works as a legal secretary with the wills and estates team at Susie Mills Law. She has extensive legal experience, having worked in all areas of the law at Jackson McDonald in Perth and supported the litigation team at Karp Steedman Ross-Adje in West Perth. She also worked in London with Richards Hogg Lindley, a leading provider of marine claims advice on coverage and quantum issues.
Kathryn was personal assistant to the Queen’s Counsel for the Royal Commission into the Building and Construction Industry in Western Australia.

Kathryn was born in Christchurch and now lives in Kapiti. She loves exploring the outdoors as well as fishing, swimming, hiking and camping.
